A plant grown in the dark still grows. It just grows the wrong way. Pale, stretched, and reaching for anything that glows.
That is what a soul does without the Quran. Not nothing. Something, but crooked, and aimed at whatever happened to be nearest.
This section is the source. Everything written anywhere else on this site is one person's understanding of it, and should be checked against it.

What This Book Says About Itself
Here is the claim, stated plainly, so it can be taken seriously or not.
It is complete: “The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words.” [6:115]
It is fully detailed: “Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?” [6:114]
It is preserved: “Absolutely, we have revealed the reminder, and, absolutely, we will preserve it.” [15:9]
It explains itself: “We have revealed to you this book to provide explanations for everything, and guidance, and mercy, and good news for the submitters.” [16:89]
And it is the only source: “Nothing shall abrogate His words, and you shall not find any other source beside it.” [18:27]
If that is true, twenty minutes a day is not much to give it.
What It Is, and What It Is Not
It is not a biography, a history, or a story with a beginning and an end. It moves by theme, and returns to the same subjects from different angles.
What it does, if we let it: it tells us who God is, which is the question every other question depends on. It tells us what happens after we die, which changes what an ordinary Tuesday is for. And it tells us what to do on Tuesday.
We do not need Arabic. We do not need a scholar standing between us and the page, and we do not need anybody's permission. A translation, a fixed slot in the day, and a willingness to be corrected will do.
God says the book was made easy for exactly this: “We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?” [54:17]
Start small and start today. Ten verses read slowly will do more than a whole chapter skimmed.

Questions People Ask
Why is the Quran the only source used on this site?
Because the Quran says it is the only source, in its own words. God calls it fully detailed [6:114] and complete [6:115], and then closes the question: “you shall not find any other source beside it.” [18:27] The footnote to 6:19 in this translation goes further. It says the verse proclaims the Quran as the only source of religious guidance, and that those who uphold additional sources are idol worshippers. The Hadith and Sunnah page sets out the whole case.
How do we know the Quran has not been changed?
Because God took the preservation on Himself, and He gave a test anyone can run. The promise is direct: “Absolutely, we have revealed the reminder, and, absolutely, we will preserve it.” [15:9] The test is in the next verse to read: “Why do they not study the Quran carefully? If it were from other than GOD, they would have found in it numerous contradictions.” [4:82] A book assembled by people over centuries does not survive that kind of reading. This one invites it.
Where should someone start?
With who God is, then what happens after this life, then the practices. Starting at sura 1 and pushing forward defeats most first readers, usually in sura 2, which is the longest in the book. The order in the Quran is not the order it came down in. The How to Read page has routes for exactly this, and the GOD section is where the site itself begins. Ten verses a day, at the same time each day, will get further than any burst of enthusiasm.

Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.[6:114]
Fully detailed, and a source of law.
The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.[6:115]
Complete, and nothing abrogates it.
Absolutely, we have revealed the reminder, and, absolutely, we will preserve it.[15:9]
Preserved by the One who sent it.
The day will come when we will raise from every community a witness from among them, and bring you as the witness of these people. We have revealed to you this book to provide explanations for everything, and guidance, and mercy, and good news for the submitters.[16:89]
It explains everything, so nobody stands between us and it.
You shall recite what is revealed to you of your Lord's scripture. Nothing shall abrogate His words, and you shall not find any other source beside it.[18:27]
