The Elephant

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

Have you noted what your Lord did to the people of the elephant?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ

alam tara kayfa faʿala rabbuka bi-aṣḥābi l-fīl

Did He not cause their schemes to backfire?

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ

alam yajʿal kaydahum fī taḍlīli

He sent upon them swarms of birds.

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

wa-arsala ʿalayhim ṭayran bAbyl#(

That showered them with hard stones.

تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

tarmīhim biḥijāratin min sijjīli

He made them like chewed up hay.

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ

fajaʿalahum kaʿaṣfin makūli
