The Rolling

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

When the sun is rolled.

إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ

idhā l-shamsu kuwwira

The stars are crashed into each other.

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ

wa-idhā l-nujūmu inkadara

The mountains are wiped out.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

wa-idhā l-jibālu suyyira

The reproduction is halted.

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

wa-idhā l-ʿishāru ʿuṭṭila

The beasts are summoned.

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

wa-idhā l-wuḥūshu ḥushira

The oceans are set aflame.

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

wa-idhā l-biḥāru sujjira

The souls are restored to their bodies.

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

wa-idhā l-nufūsu zuwwija

The girl who was buried alive is asked:

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ

wa-idhā l-mawūdatu su-ila

For what crime was she killed?

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ

bi-ayyi dhanbin qutila

The records are made known.

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

wa-idhā l-ṣuḥufu nushira

The heaven is removed.

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ

wa-idhā l-samāu kushiṭa

Hell is ignited.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

wa-idhā l-jaḥīmu suʿʿira

Paradise is presented.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

wa-idhā l-janatu uz'lifa

Every soul will know everything it brought.

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ

alimat nafsun ma ahdara

I solemnly swear by the galaxies.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ

falā uq'simu bil-khunas

Precisely running in their orbits.

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ

al-jawāri l-kunas

By the night as it falls.

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

wa-al-layli idhā ʿasʿas

And the morn as it breathes.

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

wal-ṣub'ḥi idhā tanaffas

This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

innahu laqawlu rasūlin karīmi

Authorized by the Possessor of the Throne, fully supported.

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ

dhī quwwatin ʿinda dhī l-ʿarshi makīni

He shall be obeyed and trusted.

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ

muṭāʿin thamma amīni

Your friend (Rashad) is not crazy.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ

wamā ṣāḥibukum bimajnūni

He saw him at the high horizon.

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

walaqad raāhu bil-ufuqi l-mubīn

He is not holding back any news.

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ

wamā huwa ʿalā l-ghaybi biḍanīni

It is not the talk of a rejected devil.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ

wamā huwa biqawli shayṭānin rajīmi

Now then, where will you go?

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

fa-ayna tadhhabūn

This is a message to all the people.

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ

in huwa illā dhik'run lil'ʿālamīn

For those who wish to go straight.

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ

liman shāa minkum an yastaqīm

Whatever you will is in accordance with the will of GOD, Lord of the universe.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

wamā tashāūna illā an yashāa l-lahu rabbu l-ʿālamīn
